Dr Van Rooy and Dr Peterson have decided the time is right to get additional support through joining a national general practice group. After much consideration, we have decided to become part of the Ochre Health Group and the practice will be known as Ochre Medical Centre Bonnells Bay.

Why have we made this change?

Since opening our doors in 1991, we have been focused on delivering high quality care and improving the health of the local community. Our aim in joining a larger group is to make sure the practice and our community support continues strongly for many decades to come. Being part of Ochre Health also gives us the opportunity to share ideas and continue to improve the medical services we provide.

Why Ochre Health?

Ochre Health was established by two doctors in the NSW Outback town of Bourke in 2002 to provide care for rural communities. Still owned by its founders, the company has grown to become a leading provider of high quality healthcare to rural, regional and urban communities around Australia. Our own heritage and values are closely aligned with Ochre Health and we feel Bonnells Bay Surgery will not only fit well into the Ochre Health network, but that our patients will benefit from the integration over time.

Will this change affect patients now?

No. The practice will simply have a new name and access to the support, resources and expertise of a larger group. Patients will still see the same familiar faces of our staff and doctors at our practice in the Bay Shopping Square on Fishery Point Rd.

Importantly, there will be no changes to:

• Our operating hours, phone number and booking options
• Our doctors, staff and other health practitioners
• Our billing policy
• Our secure storage of your medical records and patient information

We look forward to continuing to serve the community with a wide range of medical services including general medical assessments, vaccinations, skin cancer checks and procedures, mental health services, chronic disease management and the range of other services provided by our visiting practitioners.

If patients or members of the community have any questions about this news and what it means for them, they are welcome to speak to our friendly reception team.

We are very excited to announce our new Website, which is designed to be a Medical Portal for our Patients and Staff.

Designed as a patient reference and local resource, www.baysurgery.com.au plans to be a focal point for our community health initiative.
