How do I organise a Referral to a Specialist?

If you need to see a specialised service regarding your illness, we will arrange a referral for you. It's best to make the appointment early. You can always cancel an appointment you don’t need, but you can’t go to an appointment you didn’t make.

Test results relating to the referral will be either:
a) Sent directly to the specialist;
b) Picked up by the patient from the surgery prior to the appointment with the specialist;
c) Sent to the patients home to take to the specialist.

Generally speaking, we don’t send results through the public hospital system (Mater Hospital Oncology excepted) as they tend to get lost. An exception is if the doctor in the specific public hospital clinic has a direct named unique fax number.
